Mark 10:13-16 "And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them."
Jesus says we all need to receive the Kingdom of God like a child if we hope to enter it! In adulthood we often lose the innocent, trusting, curious, playful, joyful and genuine demeanor of a child. Jesus disciples did not think that the children were important enough to take up Jesus’ time, but Jesus had a lesson in mind for his disciples! He rebuked his disciples saying "Do not hold the children back from me, the kingdom belongs to them!" Then Jesus embraced the children taking them in his arms and spoke blessings over them. This is a beautiful picture of the intimacy our Father in heaven wants with each of us, creator and creation in loving embrace. God desires us all to run into his open arms as his children so that he can speak blessings over us.
